Now comes the exciting part about going to the optometrist - picking out new glasses that will look stylish and feel comfortable.

At Prairie Vision Center our experienced opticans work with you to help you select the best frame for you. We have the largest optical in the area with over 1000 frames to choose from.

While this can often seem like a daunting task, it doesn’t have to be. Facial features and the shape of the face along with skin tone and hair color help determine which frame would be most successful. Patient's lifestyle and their personality can also come into play.

An optician or optometrist are best at the job of determining which frame will work best for each individual. Frame shape should enhance and counterbalance facial structure. In most cases, eyewear styles should softly follow facial lines, but not match face shape.

An example would be a very round faced patient should not wear a round frame because it will cause the patient to have a super-round look. Instead, an angular frame will counter balance the roundness.

Selecting proper lenses for your new eyewear is important too. Antireflective coatings are available to enhance lenses and we also have the toughest scratch resistant lenses available on the market. No-line bifocals are another popular choice.

Finally, a patient’s lifestyle comes into role as some frames are more appropriate for a professional image, others give a more casual look, and still others can be meant for more of a dressy or evening look. Always tell the optometrist your lifestyle needs to help determine which frame will be most beneficial.
